                                              Warehouse Complex – Planning Appeal

                                                Ref: APP/H1075/W/21/3284753 *

Newlands, the developer of the 4 warehouses site on J7 M3, has lodged an Appeal* against Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s refusal of their Planning Application. A formal inquiry by a Planning Inspector is scheduled to start on 1st March 2022.

As supporters you have already lodged over 400 objections, and these will be taken into account. However, we want the Planning Inspector to be in no doubt about of the strength of opposition to this Planning Application, so we are asking you to write to the Inspector to object to the Newlands’ Planning Application by the 16th of December 2021.

It is very simple to do this.

You can either e-mail:

  • Go to the inspector’s website by clicking HERE
  • Enter the case number 3284753 in the Case Reference box.
  • Click ‘make representation’ and follow the instructions.

Or you can write a letter (in triplicate) to: Mrs. A. Bell, The Planning Inspectorate, Room 3/0, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol, BS1 6PN.

When writing or emailing you can:

  • Confirm the content of your previous letter of objection
  • Confirm again your objection to the Planning Application and add any new reason you have for opposing the plan
  • Refer in your own words to the adverse impact the development would have on the landscape, biodiversity and on local communities and roads in the area.

Your support in writing letters and signing the Oakdown Oaks petition, made all the difference when Basingstoke Council’s Development Control Committee refused the Newlands’ Planning Application on the 27th of October, 2021. Thank you again.

FAQs

Q. Which application is this exactly?

A. In April, Newlands applied for outline planning permission for 4 warehouses on land at Oakdown Farm, Dummer. BDBC refused this application. It is this refusal which the developers are appealing against.

Q. What about the one which was refused last month?

A. That was an application for just the largest of the four warehouses. BDBC refused this application which is not part of this Appeal.

Q. Where can I see details of Newlands’ appeal to the Council?

A. Their ‘Statement of Case’ can be found on BDBC’s planning portal by clicking this link.

Statement of Case

Q. What is BDBC’s position on this?

A. BDBC refused this outline plan for the 4 warehouses back in April on the basis that it was totally out of proportion, in completely the wrong place, contrary to the local plan, visually damaging to the area and with little economic benefit. The Council, their planning officers and we, the local community, are therefore collectively against this massive and unsightly development.

Q. I have more questions. Who do I contact?
